"Thom's Secret"
8x10" oil on Canvas. Completed July 2017.
My first self portrait. My first Portrait. I'm pleased with it, and think I should explore portraiture more often.
I'm putting together a collection of scenes for my first show which is about a year out.. I'm thinking this will be in it.
"Detail of Thom's Secret"
Puffin at Marble Island

My first in an Alaskan Wildlife Series I'm working on...
"Summer Dive"
11x14" Oil on Canvas. July 2017.
Inspired by diving into ponds and rivers of my youth I tried to capture the zen moment of the launch - no turning back. About to slice into cold refreshing water.
Given away to a family friend.
"Nightscape"
12"x16" oil on canvas. May 2017.
In subdued light this painting looks really cool...
Given away to my friend in Alaska.
"Sittin' on the Porch"
12"x24" Oil on Canvas. June 2017
As I travel, I often practice my craft by painting for friends.. This one is for Derek, who has a sweet front porch to sit around and make up songs on his guitar. His latest song shares the title of this painting...
Painted for and given to my friend Derek.
Study of a Dancing Girl
oil painting on post it notes...
Sometimes my practice figures turn out beautiful... It sort of makes me just want to tape this figure into my scene...
"The Beer Tree"
8"x10" Oil on Canvas. May 2017.
A beer tree is a theme I like working with - it is fun and ridiculous- but intriguing all the same. This painting was more or less a practice work that turned out well..
Bartered for 10 days at a lakeside cabin in Maine.
"My Lupita..."
12"x16" oil on canvas. May 2017.
Based on a portrait of a friend I met at a yoga retreat in Baja, Mexico... The title coming inspired from my friend Jelena...

"Juna"
8"x10" Oil on Canvas. March 2017.
Juna loves playing with his ball more than anything else.. I tried to catch his optimism - that perhaps you might just enjoy tossing the ball for him...
Given to his companions...
"The Unicycle Race"
14 x 18 in. Oil on Canvas. March 2017.
I tried a new technique with the hope that the painting would resemble my sketches on paper towel. I'm quite pleased with the results.
Sold. Price in negotiation.
The Woman, A Fox and the Key
Oil on Canvas. 11 x 14 in. March 2017.
I like this scene. It has no deeper meaning than I wanted to paint a figure walking through a field of flowers. The fox and the key made sense as the scene developed.
Available.
"John K. Playing a Guitar"
6 x 8 inches. Oil on canvas board. February 2017.
I love the process of painting. My original idea was simply John playing a guitar in an empty building. The details came through the process of creative contemplation: The cat, the broken plaster and the hole in the floor. This is a very fitting portrait of John.
This was the first painting in which I've realized I have some promise. I almost called it "Signs of Greatness" but that is pure vanity.
Auctioned off for charity: Sold 250.00 usd
Detail of "John K"
Though not perfect, there is some great detail work in this tiny portrait. I'm quite pleased.
Auctioned off for charity. Sold 250.00
"First Snowfall"
Oil on Canvas. 12 x 24 in. December 2016.
This started out as a desert scene, morphing into a night scene with a bonfire before the trees collected the snow and the winter scene you see before you.
The swan is a nice touch.
Given away to a friend.
"Adrienne's Birthday"
Acrylic on canvas board. 6 x 8 in. October 2016
I made a birthday painting for my friend Adrienne.
Given to Adrienne.
"Molly's Farm"
Oils on canvas board. 6 x 8 in. March 2016.
This one again had to flow. Originally I had an autumn scene with an old man playing a fiddle... It turned into a spring scene with a young woman playing a banjo...
Given away to Molly.
"Mountain Magic"
Oil on Canvas. 16 x 20 in. January 2016.
When working on the mountain peaks, I grew frustrated as they weren't coming out like I wanted. Finally, I snapped. I grabbed my paint knife smeared color on it and pushed and pulled the paint on the canvas and in four quick seconds I took a boring scene and made it a dynamic one.
Bob Ross never mentioned painting with rage...
Commentary on this painting:
"This Pierced my soul. It is a dream of a dream of intimacy."
Given away to a romantic interest. ;)

Tried my hand at 19th centuryimpressionistic technique of Europe.

"Evening Jam Session"
Acrylic on Canvas. 16 x 24 in. November 2015
This was an ambitious piece for me. I had never painted any of these elements before. With a little trial and error it slowly came together over the course of several weeks. I seem to enjoy painting farm scenes.
Given away to a friend.

"Eastern Bluebird"
Acrylic on plywood. 12 x 18 in. Oct. 2015
This was my first painting I tried since high school art class. When I finished it, I realized I really enjoyed the painting process and damn if I might actually have some talent! And so, I continue to paint.
Given Away to my sister.
